Jesse B. Alred, 84, of Clinton, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at his residence.He was was born July 4, 1918, in Union County and was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Clinton. He retired from General Motors in Detroit, Mich., where he had worked as a grinder in the Tool and Die Department. He was also a United States Navy veteran who served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lucille Alred of Clinton; a son, Gary Alred and his wife, Jill, of Sterling Heights, Mich.; a grandson, William and Jennifer Alred of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; two great-granddaughters, Brianna and Kailee Alred of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; a sister, Cecil Fritts and her husband, Charles, of Clinton; a brother, John Alred and his wife, Eloise, of Knoxville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Harriett Ridenour Alred; sister, Sylvia Allred; and brothers, Roy and Bonnie Allred.
The funeral mass will be 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at St. Therese Catholic Church, with Father Gerard Finucane officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton.The family will receive 6 to 8 p.m. Friday night at the church building. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton in charge of all arrangements.
