Mary Edna Newton Anderson, 80, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at her home in Alice, Texas. She was born April 10, 1933, in Bigfoot, Texas, to the late Otis C. Newton and Wilma Couser Newton. Before her illness, she loved working in the yard, fishing, was an avid reader and loved watching mysteries. Mary and husband, Kenneth D. "Andy" Anderson made their home in Kingsville, Texas where they owned and operated the Tic Toc Drive Inn Grocery and various other businesses. They retired to Lagarto on Lake Mathis then moved to Alice, Texas in 1999. They were both members of the Kingsville Elks Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Mary is survived by daughters Caryl Jo "Jody" Baker Smith, of Pasadena, Texas and Debra Anderson Ellis of Midland Texas; stepdaughter, Shelly Anderson Korb of Houston, Texas and stepson, Ken Anderson, (Joni) of Spring, Texas; She was MiMi to grandchildren, Kayce Ellis Hyatt of Midland, Texas, Erin Shea Ellis of Houston, Texas, SSG Ryan Chastain (Eryn) stationed in Vicenza, Italy, and Rachel Anderson of Los Angeles, California; one great granddaughter Syndey Claire Hyatt of Midland, Texas and one brother, Garland (Gloria) Newton of Corpus Christi, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at Holmgreen Mortuary, Friday, September 27th at 2 p.m.
