Henry Ampter was a 28-year-old farm laborer for the Kohl family in the 1880 census at Mountain, Siskiyou County, California. He and his parents, as well as the parents of the husband of the family, came from "Oldenbord," presumably Oldenburg, a former German state (the husband and wife were both born in Hamburg, Germany). Henry Ampter is not in the 1900 census, so presumably he died before this time.
