Well Known Resident Of
City Had Been in Poor
Health For Year

Martin Burns, one of Ogdensbug's most highly esteemed residents, died at 3 o'clock this morning at the home of his sister, Miss Anna Burns of 321 Caroline Street after a lingering illness of heart disease. He had been in poor health for more then a year.
Mr.Burns who had been afflicted with blindness since childhood was known and beloved by a legion of friends in Ogdensburg. Despite the handicap of blindness he attained a fine schooling in early life and was widely known for his keen scholarly mind. For many years he was a familiar figure the city working his way carefully along with only a cane to guide him and he apparently know every section of Ford Street accurately. Mr.Burns took great pleasure in discussing political and civic matters with his many friends all over the city and was always well posted on every subject.
Mr.Burns was born in Ogdensburg, May 19,1867, a son of Edward and Ann Wall Burns. He never married. His sister with whom he lived is his only survivor.
Mr.Burns was a member of Knights Columbus and of St.Mary's Cathedral parish. He was also an alumnus of the New York State School for the Blind at Batavia,N.Y.
Funeral arrangements are in complete.
