Died—Atchison—Near San Marcial, New Mexico, on July 19, 1885, Francis M., son of James D. and Harriet Atchison of Deer Creek Township, aged 24 years, 8 months, and 23 days.
Deceased had been at work as fireman on the A.T. & S. F. Railroad for some time and was soon to be advanced to locomotive engineer. His people were first apprised of his death by receipt of a telegram from P. I. Barr, Supt., who states that the body will reach Kirwin tomorrow morning in charge of J. F. Hennessy. His death occurred as the result of an accident—his train falling through a bridge. The telegram states further that the body is badly disfigured, death having been caused by scalding with steam and hot water from the boiler. He was conscious just before he died, and his last wish was to see his mother.
The remains will be taken to the M. E. Church, and funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning.
