Belva Ball age 78 of Saugatuck died Monday, September 7, 2009 at Resthaven Care Center. Belva was born April 9, 1931 on a farm in central Iowa. In 1948 she graduated from Gillett Grove High School, and then attended Iowa State College, majoring in art. She was active in 4H, and was awarded Best in State for a tailored suit she made, and was sent to the National 4H Congress in Chicago. An article about Belva appeared in Cosmopolitan Magazine, and she was also on the cover. She and her husband shared careers as full time artists, doing shows throughout the U.S., winning many awards. She had a showing of her work at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Library. She is an Honorary Board Member of the Ox-Bow Art School, and an active member and officer of the Saugatuck Douglas Garden Club. Surviving is her husband Clyde of 58 years; children Randy Ball of Ann Arbor, Jeff Ball of Saugatuck, Sandy and Ted Muckleroy of Austin, TX, and Kevin Ball of Brooklyn, NY; 2 grandchildren Callan Muckleroy and Austin Muckleroy. Memorial services will be 2 pm Saturday, September 26, 2009 at All Saints Episcopal Church. No visitation is scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to Ox-Bow or the All Saints Stain Glass Fund. Arrangements are by the Dykstra Life Story Funeral Homes-Saugatuck Chapel.
