Born Aug. 16, 1950, in Puerto Rico, Victor was the son of the late Danny Sanchez and Olga (Barreda) Swinton.
At the age of two, his family moved to the United States where he was raised and educated in Florida.
Victor joined the United States Army in 1968, and served his country until 1971.
While stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas, he met Judy Matteson, who he later married in 1971. Judy and Victor had two children. He enjoyed taking his two boys, Brian and Victor, fishing as they were growing up.
After serving in the military, he was hired by ExxonMobil, where he worked for 37-1/2 years before his retirement.
In 2008, he married Philomena Looby. They resided in Minooka.
Survivors include two sons, Brian (Kim) and Vic (Melanie) Jr., both of Mazon; four grandchildren, Adam and Breanne and Tyson and Emma; one sister, Ome' (Lorenzo) Elias Jamarillow of New Mexico; one niece, Gabriella; and one nephew, Gabriel. Several aunts and uncles also survive in Puerto Rico.
Cremation rites were accorded to Victor's wishes.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at the home of Philomena Elias, 405 E. Frontier Dr., Minooka.
