His real name was Luciano Gentile. He was an Italian pop singer but he also sang rock'n'roll and beat music. He began his career between 1957 and 1958 as a member of a band called "Little boys" that performed in a Roman theater situated in Viale Libia, famous to have launched other artists. He was then called with his real name, Luciano Gentile. They cut various records until he decided to try and begin his career on his own. He took the nickname of Jean Luk and in 1962 he cut various records: "The Girl With her Dog/Tell Me Baby", "Let's Dance the Twist/You Are My Love", "Dado di Miele/Al fuoco, al fuoco". The following year he took part in the music event called the "Cantagiro" with his song, "Saraghina Twist" and cut other records, such as "Una stella nella mano/Anna Twist", "Odio quelle che sognano", B side of "Saraghina Twist". He also recorded "Little Rock/So Romantic". In 1964, under advice of Nico Fidenco and Jimmy Durante he changed his name into Luciano Vieri and cut a record that was a real hit. It was, "Torno a pregare/Ho un amico". He was about to record a version of "The House of the Rising Sun" but, unfortunately he died in a car accident near the "Viadotto delle Valli", in Rome Montesacro, before doing it.
