Helen was a product of the Dearborn School System having studied at Miller, Lawrey, Fordson High and Fordson Junior College. When the junior college closed, she continued her studies at Wayne University where she received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education Degrees. She returned to her elementary school, Miller to teach 31 years there. When it closed, she continued her remaining 10 years of teaching at Henry Ford Elementary School. She enjoyed gardening and spent time each summer traveling to various parts of the world. Eventually she visited every continent except Antarctica. That plan was cancelled because of the 9/11/01 tragedy.
