Ella May Tisdale served during both world wars as a practical nurse, a profession she had followed for some 50 years. Ella also did charity work for the Seamen's Friend. She was the first historian for the "Tisdale Association", whose first president was her father, Henry William Tisdale from 1909 to 1910. Aunt Ella never married and loved to vacation at Lake Winnipesaukee in NH with her siblings and their families. Aunt Ella left her nieces an inheritance they used for a down payment on the Spring Haven Lodge in West Alton, NH. It was once named the Winnipesaukee Lodge. Her nieces renamed it "Auntie's Dream" in 1972 when they purchased the place. Aunt Ella and Aunt Edith used to stay there sometimes when on summer vacation.
