Floyd Bridges

AYDEN - Floyd "Chick" Bridges, 81, died Thursday, Sept., 29, 2005. Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Farmer Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Stan Wingard. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Estates, Grifton.

Mr. Bridges was born in Florida and had been an Ayden resident for more than 40 years. He was a member of Winterville Free Will Baptist Church and the Local 421st United Association of Journeymen and Apprentice of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada. He was also a WWII veteran, having served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Bridges was preceded in death by his wife, Maurene F. Bridges; and daughter, Shiela Bridges; and two brothers, Marvin and Olin Bridges.

He is survived by two sons, Wayne Bridges and wife, Dorothy, of Ayden, and Darrell Bridges and wife, LoAnn, of Falkland; two daughters, Elaine Lloyd and husband, Bobby, of Walstonburg, and Gail Ball and husband, Larry, of Grifton; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Farmer Funeral Home and other times at their homes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
