The remains of Mr,. C.C. Caldwell who died suddenly at Seward, Kansas, Tuesday of last week were brought for burial at 3:00 o'clock Friday afternoon; all that was mortal of this good man was laid to rest in East Side cemetery by the side of his life companion who preceded him to the grave nearly a year ago. So far as known death came to deceased without a moment's warning. He was apparently in time endowment of usual good health and entering his office just before the noon hour with a bucket of coal. He closed the door behind him and sank to the floor a corpse.
Mr. Caldwell was a citizen of Bridgeport at one time, but had made his home here for a number of years. He had many friends and acquaintances in the community and was held in high esteem as a business man and citizen by everyone who knew him.
Mr. Caldwell was born April 2, 1885 and was in the 39th year of his age when death claimed him. He was married in Bridgeport, Texas, November 24, 1908, to Miss Jennette Campbell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Campbell and sister of Maine. L.D. Kirkpatrick and A.W. Black. To this union one child was born, C.C. Caldwell, Jr., A sprightly lad eleven years of age who since the death of his mother, has made his home with the family of his uncle, MR. LD. Kirkpatrick. Other surviving relatives are a mother, Mrs J. S. Caldwell of Paul's Valley, Oklahoma, two brothers, S.N.,. Caldwell of Amarillo, Texas, J.G. Caldwell of Duncan Oklahoma., and a sister, Mrs. Al Williams, Paul's Valley Oklahoma.
Religiously deceased was a consistent member of the Methodist Church, and was also a thirty - second degree Mason. Touching funeral services were held at the grave Friday evening by Rev. C.C. Childress after which impressive ceremonies were held and remains interred with usual Masonic honors.
