He was a retired officer of the United States Air Force and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He was a graduate of the University of Florida, and taught history at Satellite High School and Cocoa Beach High School after retirement from the military. He was a member of the Archer United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ailstock of Archer; three daughters, Marcia West of Gainesville, Pamela Miller of Tallahassee, Janet Ailstock of Miami; six grandchildren, one brother, Manuel Ailstock of St. Albons, West Virginia; and two sisters, Marjorie Harkness, Charleston, South Carolina, and Beulah Lackey of Smoot, West Virginia.
