John B Mott was born in Camden, NJ on March 6, 1931. He was the 4th child of Joel Allen and Mary I Beek Mott. His youth was spent in Gloucester City, NJ and He started college in South Jersey. He was transferring to the University of Maryland and ended up being drafted in the Army. He served from 1951 to 1953. His service was at Ft. Indiantown Gap and Germany. When his time was up, he returned to Maryland and graduated in the Fall of 1956. He married Adelaide Parkes in June of 1956. He had 3 children, Mary Louise, John P and Martha P. Most of his adult life was spent working for the VA Hospital in Coatesville, PA. He enjoyed his hiking club and was a Mason. He was also a leader at the Thorndale United Methodist Church. He was involved in the lives of all his children and the limited time he had with his grandchildren. He died of a heart attack on October 8, 1985. To me he was dad.
