Alberta (Peaches) Fowler Algary, 98, died Monday, April 5, 2010, at St. Catherine's Village in Madison, MS.
A private graveside service will be held at Lakewood Cemetery on Thursday, April 8, 2010. A memorial service will be conducted in the Chapel at St. Catherine's Village at 1:30 PM on Thursday.
She was born in Lockhart, MS on November 1, 1911. She was a native of Meridian, MS where she was a graduate of Meridian High School and Meridian Commercial College. She began her professional career in Meridian where she was the Office Manager for Hardin Bakeries. She held similar positions with Hardin's in Tupelo and Jackson. In Jackson she married John Ralph Algary. The couple worked together at Fruit Jobber's Inc. Wholesale Produce.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Madison. She was former member of the Pollyanna and Cancodia Luncheon Clubs. Peaches was a member of New Directions for Over 55, and the St. Dominic Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at St. Dominic's for over 25 years.
Peaches was proud of being one of the first residents of St. Catherine's Village and was active in the many activities of the Village.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bertha and Richard Arthur Fowler; and her husband, Ralph.
She is survived by her great niece, Linda Nordmann of Mobile, AL; and long time friend, Barry Plunkett of Jackson.
Memorials may be made to St. Catherine's Village of First Baptist Church of Madison.
