Rosemary was born in New York City on Sept. 24, 1929, and earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1951. Shortly after graduation, she married John Robert Armore of West New York, N.J., and started a family that produced three children.
Rosemary began teaching in Catholic schools in New Jersey and received a teaching credential at Arizona State University, where the family settled in 1960. She later worked as an elementary school teacher and reading specialist in public schools in California and Maryland. Subsequent residences included those in Arizona (1960-1965); California (1965-1974 and 1982-1994); Maryland and Virginia (1974-1982); and Oregon (from 1994). Her professional interests changed to the area of financial planning after study and employment in California during the mid-1980s.
Once in Oregon, Rosemary spent her time reading, painting, traveling, writing icons, supporting Catholic charities and progressive political causes, and serving on several boards of directors, including the Bay Music Association and the Portland Chamber Orchestra. She was a volunteer for the Lincoln County Children's Advocacy Center in Newport and supported research to better understand and treat mental illness.
Rosemary is survived by her sons, Anthony of Vienna, Austria, and John of Yuba City, Calif.
Her daughter, Christina Maria Armore of Marysville, Calif., died earlier in November 2008.
A Funeral Mass will be held at noon on Friday, Jan. 13, at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Lincoln City. A reception will follow.
