~2nd Great Grand Uncle~

John Thomas is the son of Brinkley and Elizabeth McMullen Bishop. He had 4 brothers and 6 sisters. They are:

William Bishop 1824 1850
Sarah Ann "Sallie" Bishop 1826 1880
Lucy Myhand Bishop 1829 1888
Elizabeth F. "Eliza" Bishop 1832 1905
Joseph J Bishop 1832 1869
Letitia M "Lettie" Bishop 1834 1919
Wiley Brinkley Bishop 1836 1916
Mary Jane Bishop 1837 1919
Ann Anna Bishop 1841
George Leonard Bishop 1843 1916

John enlisted with the Confederacy and served in Co. D, Pannel's Tennessee Brigade during the Civil War. After the war, he married his brother's widow, Avarilla Haseltine Bowles Bishop, 25 Dec 1869 in Dennken, Montana. They moved to Johnson County, TX as did several of the Bishop family members, where they lived out their lives. They raised her children with first husband and John's brother - Joseph J. Bishop. They are:

Joann Francis Bishop 1854 1945
Avarilla Bishop 1857
Mary Franklin "Mollie" Bishop 1858
John Bell Bishop 1860
Allen Brinkley Bishop 1863
William Rufus Bishop 1866

Together they had more children and they are:

Charles Thomas Bishop 1872
Dora V. Bishop 1872
Anna Maud Bishop 1875

To my knowledge, John made his living farming his land.

May you be at peace John....
