This obituary was originally in German, translated thanks to R. Winkler of the German American Friendship Club, Sun City, AZ, as follows, with a few additions and corrections:

Arnold Brinkmeyer was born on October 23, 1820 in Blatho, Prussia, Germany and completed his time on earth on February 6, 1906. He had already entered into marriage with Friederike Hoberg on November 23, 1845, in the old fatherland. The Lord granted them ten children, of whom eight preceded their father in death. On December 29, 1867, his devoted spouse was torn from him by death and left him behind with six children, some still under age. In 1847 they came to America and made their home near Marthasville in Warren County, MO and were enlightened to the Lord under the assignment of Dr. Rothert and joined the Methodist Church. He loved the church and was employed there as custodian for many years. On March 4, 1868, he entered into matrimony a second time with the widow Carolina Hartmann nee Horstmann. Eight children sprouted from this marriage, of whom three as well as one step-daughter preceded their father in death. During the last years of his life, he had to endure many physical ailments, yet through all he remained devoted to God and found in Him his heart's comfort and belonging. He leaves behind his deeply grieving wife, seven children, two stepsons, three daughters-in-law, five sons-in-law, 46 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
