Note from Knollin Family Manuscript: "Sarah Richards Knollin came to America from Devonshire with her parents in 1827. She married a David Ehle. Died on March 26, 1848. Sarah and her brother Richard Mortimor were twins."

Sarah's death is tragically depicted in a letter written to her sister Rhoda and her husband by Sarah's twin brother, Richard Mortimer Knollin II (Letter to Wm Hood, Syracuse, Onandago Co, NY from R.M. Knollin in Sandy Creek, March 27, 1848). The letter appears to have been started on March 25th and mailed on the 27th:

Dear Brother and Sister - I sit down tonight to let you know we are; we are all well except Sarah - She was confined the 12th of this month - she got along for 2 or 3 days very well but after that she took a latte could and as been growing worse every since - She as been Derange about a week - Celia as been with her every scince last Tuesday - today Char and Ehmley has come; the have had Doc Kenney today and he sas that her case is hopeless so I thought I would let you know how she was; she has got a little Daughter; you will expect to hear from us again if any thing worse takes place; I expect to move this Spring - I and John has bought the lot of land laying east of Father's land -
Sunday 26 You will see that I did not finnish my letter last evening; Ehmley thought I had better wait till today - I hardly know what to say most - I say that Sarah is dead yes poor Sarah is gone. She died this morning at half past 9 o clock - if I could see you I could tell you my feelings better than I can wright - She will berrid a Tuesday at 10 o'clock - the baby has got a very sore mouth - Ehmeley and all the rest gives thear kind loves to you - Ehmley will wright to you in 2 or 3 weeks - my prayer is that God will prepar us all for Death - we have no thought but that she is happy so no more at this time - this from your broath
