Grace Gilmore, 96, passed away to be home with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 26, at VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville. She was born in Mt. Judea, Ark. May 12, 1912.
Grace lived in Arkansas until she was 31. She came to California in 1942 and lived in the Oakland area. During WWII she worked as a manager of the female employees at General Cable Company in the Emeryville and Alameda Shipyards. After the war she went to nurses training and worked at in a convalescent home in Hayward and she worked at Majestic Pines Hospital in Hayward for 10 years. Then she moved to Napa in 1975 in retirement. She had been living in Dixon, Ca for the past two years.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Napa.
She was married to Arnold Smith for 15 years. Then she married Otto Gilmore.
She is survived by her three daughters, Jenny Bailey of Vacaville, Rheba Arnold of Lake Havasu, Ariz. and Carolyn Perry of Livermore, Calif. She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Duck, a sister, Rosett Heffley, a daughter, Nadine Sutton, and three sons-in-law, Ray, Glenn and Dick.
She has 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Claffey and Rota Funeral Home, 1975 Main St. in Napa on Friday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m.
