Mrs. Mary Baker, 83, widow of Daniel Baker, of Suer street, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Christopher Earhardt, 815 Highland street, Syracuse, at 5 o'clock this morning following an illness of two months. Mrs. Baker, despite her advanced age, had been unusually active until early in July when she suffered a fractured hip and since then had been confined to her bed. Pneumonia developed ten days ago, her condition becoming critical, and she sank gradually to the end.
Mrs. Baker was born in Oswego (sic), the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Miller of the Hall road, pioneer residents of that section. The greater part of her long and useful life was spent in this city. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church and was a devout Christian, kindly and friendly with all whom she met. She will be greatly missed by three daughters, Mrs. Christopher Earhardt and Mrs. Christopher Oberfeldt, Syracuse; one son, Louis D. Baker of Rochester, N.Y., and several grandchildren, including Rev. Howard Earhardt, who supplied at St. Paul's Lutheran church here several Sundays during the summer.
Funeral Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock from her residence in Syracuse with interment at 3:30 o'clock at Riverside cemetery, this city.
