He was married in Heisebeck to Henrietta Christine on March 26, 1826. They left Germany and traveled to Holland for a time and on to the port of Bremen, Germany sailing to New York, USA, arriving on August 2, 1832. On the manifest NARA microfilm roll 17 he is listed as a farmer, peasant, landsman and agriculturalist. On the 1850 census in Euphratah, Fulton County, New York he is listed as head of household, 50 years; wife, Hennrietta and 6 children; occupation farmer.
Christian and his older sons, William and James left New York around 1865 and settled in Concord Township, Dodge County, Minnesota, son John came later. He left his wife and married daughters behind in New York. It is believed they never traveled to Minnesota and Henrietta and daughters are buried in Prospect View Cemetery, Montgomery County, New York.
Christian died on August 23, 1878 in Dodge County, Minnesota and is buried in the Concord Cemetery, Concord, Minnesota near his two sons, William and James and many of his grandchildren.
