Clarence Ellis Adams, 86, of New Castle, died Thursday, July 8,1999, at Oakwood Healthcare Center.
Bom September 12,1912, in Rush County, he was the son of George and Mabel (Addison) Adams. He married Sue Bundy on December 30, 1933, and she survives.
Mr. Adams was a 1931 graduate of Spiceland High School and was a member of the Spiceland Friends Meeting. He had farmed in southern Henry County and Rush County for many years. He had managed a farm on the Friends Africa Mission, Kaimosi, Kenya, East Africa from 1957-1960.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Jay (Nancy) Robeck of Sweet Home, Ore.; a son, Ralph Adams of Rush County; a sister, Mrs. James (Doris) Ferguson of Knightstown; four granddaughters, six grandsons, two step-granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, a step-great-great-granddaughter, as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son in 1944, and a son, Paul Adams in 1972.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Spiceland Friends Meetinghouse, with Sid Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday to the time of service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
