She married Finis Alonzo Young June 14, 1942 in Portageville, Missouri. They have one child Gary Dale Young. Dorothy also rasied her grand children Sebrina Leigh Young and Charlotte Anne Young. She was know as "LaLa" to her grandchildren. She died from complications of breast cancer in 1982 at Alta District Hospital in Dinuba, California.
