Chester ADKINS, 86, Rt. 3, Peru, died at 5:50 a.m. today at Dukes Continuing Care Center, Peru.
He was born July 5, 1904 in Vermilion County, Ill., to John W. and Mary Elizabeth MILLER ADKINS. On Dec. 24, 1925 at the home of the Rev. C.S. GOLDEN near Denver, he married Orpha R. KNAUFF, who survives. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Miami County Farm Bureau and the Perrysburg Baptist Church.
Surviving with his wife are four daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Bobette) MILLER, Macy; Bernita ADKINS, Portage; Mrs. Buford (Belva) CULL, Ceres, Calif., and Mrs. Harlan (Barbara) LONG, Carmel; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna MINK, Frankfort, and Alta PLUNKETT, Indianapolis, and two brothers, William [ADKINS], Columbia City, and Ray [ADKINS], Frankfort. Preceding in death were a sister and four brothers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Perrysburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Lu LASHER-MILEY officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico. Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at McCain Funeral Home, Denver, and after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
