Van C Steele, 84, of National City, Calif. died at 7:45 a. m. Sunday, August 19, 1984, after an illness of one year. He had been bedridden for three months.
Born in Grove City on April 5 1900, he was a son of Eugene P. and Nancy Van Orsdell Steele. In 1901, his family moved to the Pittsburgh area. In 1930, Mr. Steele moved to San Diego, Calif.
He was a retired employee of the San Diego Naval Base.
Surviving is his sister, Mrs. Jacob C. (Mary) Steele Ruble.
Deceased are his late wife, Adeline Arndt Steele, and one son, William Eugene Steele.
Services were held August 22, in National City. Interment was in Cypress View Mausoleum, San Diego.
