Harry Groom, 50, Dies Unexpectedly
Harry Groom, 50, a long time resident of Steuben, was found dead in bed early Tuesday evening at the home of a cousin, Kermit Groom, in Steuben, where he was visiting. Mrs. Kermit Groom made the discovery when she returned home from her job at the Advance Transformer plant in Boscobel. Mr. Groom, a veteran of World War Il, had been a patient at the Veterans' Hospital in Madison for several years but had been making periodic trips home for a few days at a time when his condition warranted. He apparently died Monday night or early Tuesday morning and as both Mr. and Mrs. Groom left their home early for work they were not aware of his passing. The Crawford county coroner and sheriff were called to the Groom home and death was found to be due to natural causes, apparently a hemorrhaged ulcer. Two children, Deborah and Dean, Steuben, are the immediate survivors. The body was taken to the Thoni and Kendall funeral home, where arrangements for the funeral were pending Wednesday.
