Pvt. Samuel Altman, Company A, 50th Regiment, Georgia Infantry, Confederate States Army. Wounded and captured at Boonsboro, MD during Sharpsburg (Antietam) Campaign. Prisoner of War, died while in captivity, at USA Hospital, 16th and Filbert Streets, Philadelphia, PA on October 11, 1862 at the age of 21. Was treated for gunshot wound, died of "abcess of brain." Buried at Glenwood Cemetery, Philadelphia. Removed to mass grave at Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Monument, Philadelphia National Cemetery in 1891.
