Obituary [Posted, Spencer, NY 10 October 1935]
Mrs. Althea Howell, widow of the late James K Howell, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B. M. Clark [Josie, wife of Bert Monroe Clark], Tuesday evening. Mrs. Howell was born in Worchestershire, England, January 28, 1859. She came to America at the age of 13 and has lived in the town of Spencer most of the years since.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. B. M. Clark of this place, and two sons, Louis Howell of North Lansing and Harvey Howell of Washington, DC.; two sisters, Mrs. Bert Andrews of Owego and Miss Pearl Tompkins of Halsey Valley; two brothers Rev. Dr. George Tompkins of Norwich, Connecticut, and Harry Tompkins of Owego, as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 2 PM at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B. M. Clark. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
