Martha Ann Applegate, 69, of Meadow Drive died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center. She was the widow of Howard Ray Applegate, Sr. Mrs. Applegate was born in Maysville on September 29, 1939 the daughter of the late Jess and Mary Pauline Yazell Mack. She was an avid collector of cow memorabilia and loved to listen to her police scanner and ride her electric scooter to the store. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Wallingford (Ricky) of Dover; two sons, Ricky Mack (Mary Jane) of Maysville and Randy Applegate (Connie) of Cynthiana; sixteen grandchildren, Misti Wallingford, Ricky Wallingford II, Macie Wallingford, Melissa Nickell, Kyra Combess, Payton Nickell, Mackenzie Nickell, Morgan Nickell, Miranda Dawn Powell, Tony Hearld, Robert Webber, Vanessa Mack, Ricky Mack Jr., Andrew Mack, Kaitlyn Mack and Shelia Mack and numerous great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Donald Mack of Tollesboro and Paul Mack of Germantown and three sisters, Ruby Hampton (Nelson) and Margaret Hamilton both of Maysville and Edith Doyle of May's Lick. She was preceded in death by two sons, Howard Ray Applegate, Jr. and Andy Applegate and two brothers, Buck Mack and Jessie Mack. Funeral services for Martha Ann Applegate will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Saturday with Rev. Bobby Staggs officiating. Burial will be in the Burtonville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Wallingford Sr., Ricky Mack Jr., Paul Mack, Paul Mack Jr., Jimmy Doyle and Tony Hearld. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Wallingford II, Ricky Mack Sr., Allen Doyle, Nelson Hampton, Andrew Mack and Randy Applegate.Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service.
