Born on October 9, 1906 at Moundsville, WV, she was a daughter of the late Charles Floyd and Margaret Hay (Forgey) Knight. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Homer Glen Alt, Sr. in 1979; two sons, Homer Glen Alt, Jr. and Charles Vohn Alt; a daughter-in-law, Geraldine Alt; two brothers, Charles and Floyd Knight; two sisters, Juliet Ruckman and Margaret Marsh; and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Alt was a teacher at the Sycamore Grove School in the late 1920's. She was the oldest member of the Mineral County C.E.O.S. having been a member of the Waxler and Reese's Mill Clubs for 67 years. She was also a member of the Mineral Baptist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher.
Surviving are three daughters, Joann Llewellyn and husband Kenneth of Wauchula, FL, Martha Spencer and husband Harold and Judy Staggs, all of Keyser; two sons, Calvin Alt and wife Norma of Keyser and Darwin Alt of Fort Ashby, WV; two additional daughter-in-law, Wilma Alt and Jean Alt, both of Keyser; one sister, Martha Gerkins of Cumberland, MD; 33 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, July 12 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services were conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Sunday, July 13 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Scott Uhlenhopp officiating.
Interment was in the Mineral Baptist Cemetery.
