Dorothy 'Dotty' BARTON, 53, of LeMars, died Sunday 17 October 1993, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars after a long illness with cancer.
She was born 21 July 1940, at Cherokee, daughter of Lewis & Ilene (MOSES) NELSON. She graduated from Aurelia High School in 1958. She had lived in Sioux Falls, Fort Dodge, Cherokee & Aurelia.
She married Donald BARTON on 12 September 1959, at Cherokee. She was a florist her whole life, working 14 years at Davenport before returning to northwest Iowa.
She had been head designer at the LeMars Flower House since May 1974. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in LeMars.
Survivors include her mother, Ilene NELSON of LeMars; 2 brothers, Kenneth NELSON of LeMars & Donald NELSON & his wife, Marie, of Dubuque; nieces & nephews, Christina NELSON, Jacque NELSON, Scott NELSON, Loren NELSON & Kellie NELSON; & a grand-nephew, Jaz Michael NELSON.
She was preceded in death by her father. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in LeMars with Rev. Lynn Potter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, LeMars. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home, LeMars.
