George Frederick served in the Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion in World War I. He was wounded twice while serving in France. He was a master sugar boiler by trade and worked at Bristow's Confectioners until his retirement. He married Edith Hoyle in 1920 and fathered one son, Tom Elger who served in World War II.
