Mrs. Effie Berry Died at Bruce On August 14
Mrs. Effie Sanders Berry died Wednesday, August 14, at the Calhoun County Hospital in Bruce. She had been in poor health for several months. She was 74.
Mrs. Berry resided at Sarepta, where she had lived her entire life. She was the daughter of Henry and Caroline Murphree Sanders, and was born at Sarepta. She was the widow of J.L. Berry.
She was a Baptist and an active member until her health failed her. She had many friends who mourn her passing.
Services were held August 14 at the Sarepta Baptist Church. Rev. George C. Lee officiated, assisted by Rev. Floyd Brasher. Burial was in Lantrip cemetery, under the direction of Pryor Funeral Home, of Calhoun City. Pallbearers were Stanley Peden, Fred Peden, Curt Bryan, Robert Cozart, Joe Lawhorn and James Sanders.
She leaves a son, Loyd Berry, of Manville, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Rex Peden, of Sarepta; a sister, Mrs. Joe Lawhorn, of Oxford; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

A very talented lady that lived at Gauley with her husband Jim Berry. A widow early,she bottomed chair's for extra cash. Her chair's were so smooth and expert that the Calhoun County Courthouse had her to bottom their chairs at one time. She was an expert...(Read more)
