SAM ARMATO

"Sammy A" Armato, 87, beloved Husband, Father, Papa, Uncle, and Friend went to be in eternal happiness on November 28, 2006. Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 2 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106; burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124 where a prayer service will begin at 6 p.m.

Sam was born to Carl and Angela Armato on May 9, 1919. He was the youngest of 9 children. Five sisters; Angie, Mary, Katherine, Elizabeth and Marie, along with three brothers; Dominic, John, Jasper, all proceeding him in death. He is now reunited in heaven with his daughter Anna Jean Armato and is survived by his bride of 65 years, Marie, daughter and son-in-law Patty and Byron Spencer of Elmhurst, IL, son Carl who resides in Hartford, CT and his grandchildren Carla Armato of San Ramon, CA, Jackie and Jason Hanson of Chico, CA and Frank and Katie Armato of Kansas City. Great-grandchildren include Anna & Ava Armato and Jack Hanson.

Sam is also survived by a sister-in-law Jennie Armato, brother-in-law Joseph Cottone, nieces Lucy Biondo and Carrie Perniciaro, along with many, many other nieces and nephews.

Sammy worked as a pipe fitter and welder throughout his life. He enjoyed sharing his talents with many young people aspiring the trade and always was admired by those lives he touched on the job. He served in the Army during WWII and was medically discharged.

Sammy was a passionate outdoorsman, from archery, fishing, to sitting in a duck blind and hunting with his nephews and friends. Those who knew Sam understand the mold which was broken at birth. His passion, insight, and loyalty are just a small portion of the legacy he leaves behind. Sam was an inspiration to many, many people and will truly be missed.

Sam had many friends who were closer than sons. Friends Alex Picone, Nate Giacomo, and nephews Anthony Perniciaro and Anthony Salucci were always thought about so highly and loved so dearly. Sam Raccuglia has been such an unconditional friend who always had an availability to Sammy the last couple of years of his life. We could go on and on about many others. Each person who had the opportunity to know Sam was truly blessed with his wisdom and quick wit. "Sammy A", you personified dedication to the things you loved, unconditional love to your family and friends, and an electric smile with each person you met. You will forever be loved and missed tremendously!

Pallbearers include Steve Conway, John Falco, John Filardo, Vincent Liberto, Nathanial Myers, and Joseph Perniciaro. Honorary Pallbearers include Nate Giacomo, Anthony Perniciaro, Alex Picone, Sam Raccuglia, and Anthony Salucci.

Special thanks to North Kansas City ICCU Nurses, New Mark Specialized Care, and North Kansas City Hospice. (arr: Passantino Bros. Funeral Home (816) 471-2844).
