She is the daughter of Ray Nelson & Nora Gee. Fern died at the age of 88 Sunday July 10, 2005 surrounded by her loving family at her home in East Jordan.
She was born on June 20, 1917 in East Jordan, the daughter of Ray & Nora (Hayes) Gee. She grew up in EJ & graduated from EJHS in 1935. On September 18, 1937 in EJ she married James P. Bennett.
Fern had worked at the East Jordan Canning Factory & then later at the Ellsworth Canning Factory until her retirement. She was a member of the Jassamine Rebekah Lodge #365 & the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post #7580 in East Jordan. She also attended the Lighthouse Missionary Church in EJ. Fern enjoyed traveling,collecting bells, collecting dolls & flower gardening.
Fern is survived by her husband of 67 years, James P. Bennett six children; Janet Olson, Faye(Harold)Barraw, Perry (Kaaren) Bennett, Nancy (Jim)LaBeau, Sally(Ed) Kotalik and Linda (Frank) Ballentine, all of East Jordan; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two brothers Glen (Lillian) Gee and Vale (Vera)Gee both of East Jordan as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Linda Sue, Leean Francis and Tara Sue one son-in-law Harold Olson; her parents; three sisters Ilean Gee, Beulah Gee and Evelyn Neumann and one brother Earl Gee.
