Pierre was wed to Theresa Godard LaPointe four times. In 1820 by a Justice of the Peace (as there were no Priests available), again in 1921 by a visiting Missionary, again in February 1822 by a Justice of the Peace in Prairie cu Chien. He was baptized on July 31, 1827, in the newly built St. Gabriel's Church - Followed by a church marriage to Theresa.
In 1835 he was awarded a Government Contact to carry the mail three times a week from Prairie du Chien to Platteville. In 1839 Pierre purchased 300 Acres of land from Hercules Louis Dousman - Pierre and Theresa lived there till their deaths raising twelve children: Susan, Louis, Charles A, Pierre "Peter" II, Antoine, Julia, Moses, Hypolite "Paul", Samuel, Henry, Margaret and Philomena Barrette. He was also a Ferryman. Pierre died in 1862 at the age of Sixty-two - Theresa in 1885 at the age of eighty.
