Albert "Pete" Abner, 61, Shelbyville, Ind., died at his residence at 3:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 1992. He had been in failing health several months.

He was born in Franklin, Ohio, Oct. 3, 1931, the son of William and Laura Phipps Abner. He retired from the Ford Motor Co., in Indianapolis in 1985 after 22 years there. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy int he Korean War. He was a lifetime resident of Shelby County and a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, the VFW, The American Legion and the Moose and Eagles, all of Shelbyville. He was a graduate of Mr. Auburn High School.

On Nov. 1, 1975, he married Marilyn Lawrence, and she survives; with one son, Gary Abner, Shelbyville; one daughter, Angie Carroll, Shelbyville; five stepdaughters, Mrs. Steve (Linda) Nugent, Mrs. Kent (Cinda) Lair, and Mrs. Tony (Nan) Wilkler, all of Shelbyville, Mrs. Jack (Sherri) Taney, Fairland, and Mrs. Mike (Ann) Laverty, Louisville, Ky.; Shelbyville; a stepson, Jack Lawrence, Delaware; two sisters, Dorothy Abner, St. Paul, Ind., and Mrs. John (Joan) Cooper, Manilla, Ind.; one brother, David Abner, Shelbyville, Ind.; and 22 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.

The services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Glenn E. George Funeral Home, St. Paul, Ind., with the Rev. Bill Horner officiating.

Burial will be in the Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may go to the Shelby Boys Club or the First Christian Church of Shelbyville.

There will be military graveside rites.
