Mrs. Theodore Open
LANESBORO, Minn -- Mrs. Theodore (Estelle) Opem, 71, Lanesboro, died at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday at Rochester Methodist Hospital where she had been taken by Chatfield Ambulance about noon. She had become ill while en route with her daughter to see the family physician.
The former Estelle Wead, she was born in Fillmore County, June 15, 1903, the daughter of Delbert and Maude Wead. On June 1, 1927, she married Theodore Opem, Wykoff. Since 1929 they had lived at Lanesboro, where he died in July 1973. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Survivors are: one son, Lowell, Stewartville, Minn; two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Marion) Jenson, Riceville, Iowa, and Mrs. Jerry E. (Idella) Conwell Sr., Kenyon, Minn; seven grandchildren; five brothers, Lester (Phyliss) Wead, Canton, Minn.; Ralph (Verna) Wead, Harmony, Minn.; Walter Wead, Lanesboro; Irvin and Howard (Margaret) Wead, Horseheads, N.Y., and five sisters, Mrs. Otis (Ruby) Lee, Freeborn, Minn.; Mrs. Florence Sorum, Grand Meadow, Minn.; Mrs. Oleander (Marion) Sorum, Elba, Minn; Mrs. James (Ruth) Webb and Miss Gladys Weed, Horseheads, N.Y.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home, Lanesboro, the Rev. Leon Holtan, Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Quaker Cemetery, Highland, Minn.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m and Saturday until time ofservices at the funeral home.
