Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the St. Edward United Methodist Church with Rev. D.R. "Buck" Linton-Hendrick officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, St. Edward. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the church. Miller-Levander Funeral Home of St. Edward is in charge of arrangements.

Merwin Henry Adams, son of a civil war veteran, Charles Henry and Mary (Gleason) Adams, was born August 9, 1908 at Fullerton, Nebraska. He attended school in Fullerton, Nebraska and graduated from Fullerton High School in the Class of 1928.

On September 6, 1934, Merwin was united in marriage to Frances Marie Killham at Plattsmouth, Nebraska. They first made their home in Fullerton, NE, where Merwin worked for the Fullerton Electric Company. In 1943 they moved to St. Edward, NE where he was employed with Iowa-Nebraska Light & Power Company. Then in 1966 he transferred to Norfolk, NE and worked for the Nebraska Public Power District. Finally, after 37 years of service he retired in 1973. Following retirement, they moved back to St. Edward and enjoyed many hours of fishing with their grandchildren. On October 30, 1988, Frances passed away. Merwin moved to Cloverlodge Care Center in April 2011. It was there he passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012.


Merwin was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge # 78 of Albion, the St. Edward Commercial Club, the Volunteer Fire Department and was the founding member of the St. Edward Senior Center. He held the office of Fire Chief for the St. Edward Fire Department and was a past President of the St. Edward School Board.


Merwin is survived by three daughters, nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren,26 great-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren 8 step-great-great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances, brothers Everett and Ralph, sisters: Bertha Allard, Dorothy Reed and Mildred Totsi, 2 great-grandsons: Alec Meridith and Kaleb Meridith.
