Martha was the daughter of Jackson B Acker and Margaret Lucinda Crime and the granddaughter of Alfred Halbert Acker and Rachel Herring.

She was born in 1844 in the Spring Hill Community of Pickens County (near Carrollton), the first of four children. Her brother was Christopher Columbus Acker (C.C.), sister Margaret Ann Acker (Annie), and sister Safronia Josephine (Jo) Acker.

It does not appear that she married or set up a separate household. She died young at the age of thirty-three.

She was buried next to her father in her home cemetery at Spring Hill Baptist Church in May 1877. In latter years her mother, brother, and sister Jo were buried next to her.
