Frederick was the son of A. C. and P. A. Brown according to his marriage certificate. He moved first from Pennsylvania to Pasadena & subsequently to La Jolla, CA. He started his successful San Diego real estate company in 1914. Twelve years later in 1926 he retired in favor of his son Austen and moved into his new Robert Woodrow Snyder designed home on Hillside Drive. His real estate company, the Frederick L. Brown Co., was sold to Willis M. Allen in 1942.
