The body of Samuel M. Adams, the Powhattan banker, was taken from the Hinthorn undertaking establishment Friday afternoon where it has been lying since January in an embalmed state, and placed in the fine Barre granite vault located in the Powhattan cemetery. The same pall bearers carried the body to its final resting place that bore the body at the funeral in January. They were: U. Raridan, C.W. Porterfield, A.H. Thomas, J.G. Davenport, William Lytle, and C.A. McCrerey...The vault in which the body of Mr. Adams is laid is one of the finest in the country. The total cost was $2,200, and it took nine months to complete it.
