Charles Frederick Durrenberger was born in Gretna, Louisana, near New Orleans. His family (12 children) were raised in Texas near Gidding, Texas. He met and married Laura Florence Egger. Charles and Laura had 6 children, Joe, (buried in Valdosta, Georgia,) Louise,(buried in Modesto, California,) Charles, (buried in Houston,Texas,) Shelton, (buried in California), Elizabeth (buried Copperas Cove, Texas) and W.R. (cremeted and ashes scattered in the Gulf of Mexico,) but has a stone/marker in the Copperas Cove Cemetery.

Charles was hit by a Santa Fe Train at the crossing in Copperas Cove in 1934 and died a few days later in Santa Fe Hospital in Temple, Texas.
Laura lived in Copperas Cove until 1966 when she moved to Austin to live with her daughter, Elizabeth, until Laura death in July 15, 1967. Both Charles and Laura Durrenberger are buried in the Copperas Cove Cemetery.
