|Death: ||Jan. 30, 2012, USA|
Bobby George Albin, age 64 passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 after a brief but valiant battle with ALS.
Bobby's funeral will be at 11:30am Saturday in Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel.
Bobby was a popular and greatly gifted singer from Fort Worth who performed with The Gentleman, Whirlwind, Push and Easter Island, to name a few. Bobby was also known for his masterful wit and sense of comic timing. He had a great love for animals and had worked as a veterinary tech at an Arlington animal hospital.
A selfless and giving man, Albin shared his knowledge and expertise as a premier vocalist and front man with many young up and coming performers - all of who shared great respect for him as a mentor. In recent months, as his health declined, the North Texas music community came out in full force to show their support for their friend. Tragically, Albin lost his voice to throat cancer over 12 years ago, but maintained his sense of humor and love for music throughout it all. Last year, Bobby's lifelong friend, Delbert McClinton, extended a personal invitation for Bobby to be his special guest on his annual Sandy Beaches Cruise. During the cruise, Bobby courageously performed with Delbert, singing with the use of his vocal device, moving the audience to tears and laughter.
His charm, talent, kindness and wit will be greatly missed by all. There is great consolation among all who loved him in knowing that Bobby finally got his voice back and is singing with the angels.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma Almon Barnes and Farris Issac Albin and three brothers, Kenneth, Jimmy and Edwin.
Survivors: Brothers, Gary and wife, Susan and Johnny and wife, Judy, sisters, Lisa and husband, Kevin Smith and Sue Anne Albin, nephew, Ed Albin and wife, Felicia along with numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins and his dog, Chip.
