March 28, 1933 - July 2, 2013 John was born in 1933 in Silver City, New Mexico. John was educated at the University of Denver, New Mexico Western College, and the Pasadena Playhouse. In later years he majored in Accounting at UCLA.
John retired in 1993 after spending 15 years as an Accounting Manager for National Medical Enterprises. Prior to his employment in the healthcare industry he was involved in the entertainment industry as the Los Angeles Office Manager for National Screen Service, Treasurer for the Ice Capades, and Controller for the Hollywood Reporter.
In August 1998, John decided to return to the entertainment industry as an actor. He joined the "Seniors in Commercials" acting program under the supervision of Adrienne Omansky and sponsored by the Los Angeles Unified School District. Within a short period of time he was cast as a principal in a National Commercial and was featured in two films: "Inspector Gadget" for Disney and "Mystery Men" for Universal. He was an active member of the National SAG/AFTRA Senior Performers Committee, the SAG/AFTRA/WGA Senior Reading Committee, and the Local SAG/AFTRA Latino/Hispanic EEOC. He was also a member of Variety Club International, Ricardo Montalban's Nosotros Organization, Hispanics for Los Angeles Opera, and was a director for the Long Beach Opera Guild. In 1991 he had a beautiful shrine built at Blessed Sacrament Church to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe.
There will be a prayer service at Holy Cross Cemetery on July 17, 2013 at 12:30pm in the Christ Rising Chapel, 5835 West Slauson Avenue, Culver City, CA, 90230-6505. Interment will follow the services at the grave site. Telephone 310-836-5500 for more information.
