Rev. Baldwin was an 1867 graduate of the Princeton Theological Seminary.

When he died in 1930, he left $20,000 to the Princeton Theological Seminary.

He was the second pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Delavan, Illinois, from 1867 to 1869.
He then ministered in Mt. Palatine, 1869-1871; Loda, 1872-1873; Hammonton, NJ, 1874-1875; Newburyport, MA, 1876-1877; and Green Valley, IL, 1882-1883.

Two of his brothers, George Thompson Baldwin, and Henry Nesbit Baldwin, were also ministers.
