BRIGHAM CITY - Suzanne "Suzie" Leda Velasquez Lamere Frost has unexpectedly passed away in her sleep. Guided by angels to Heaven, she has been freed from earthly pain. Born January 10, 1956, to Julian (who precedes Suzie in death) and Barbara Velasquez, Suzie was an adoring and loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, and wife. Suzie was the eldest sister of Larry Velasquez (Monica), Julie Carner (David), and Diana Mund (Van). Suzie was thus, not only the first child born to her immediate family, she was the first grandchild born to her favorite grandparents, "Shorty" and "Rosie" Velasquez. As with those who are first, Suzie was a pioneer, who forged fearlessly through life. Suzie graduated from Box Elder High School in 1974, which is where she met her first love, best friend, and spouse, David Lamere. By 1985, Suzie and David had four children: Nicole Lamere-Conolly (Wayne), Celeste Peña (Shawn), Heather Garcia (Erasmo), and Trenton Lamere (Stewart Calhoun). Suzie's daughters later blessed her with eight grandchildren: Essence, Mariah, Makai, Bernard, Cayla, Francisco, Alfonso, and Shayla (who precedes Suzie in death). Even now, Suzie's children and grandchildren remain her legacy, joy, and solace. On November 29, 2002, Suzie married Gary Frost, who she diligently cared for until her passing and who survives her death. Suzie is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and in-laws. Suzie was an avid fiction reader; though, she devoured all literature. She loved gardening, canning, crocheting, and spending time with her grandkids. She was an exceptional cook, who–true to her Hawaiian and Latina roots–could whip up the most 'ono dishes and desserts. Suzie had a rich work experience, having worked everywhere from Thiokol and NASA during the Challenger Space Shuttle Mission to a few local businesses, where she made lifelong friends. Suzie will be remembered for her wit, contagious smile and laughter, and the love she so freely gave to all around her. In the last years, Suzie found peace in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and, prior to her passing, was honored to receive her temple endowments. "Do not think of me as gone–I am with you still, in each new dawn." Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City 7th Ward Chapel, 523 North 100 West, Brigham City, UT. Viewing will be Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City. A family viewing will be held at the Chapel on December 24, from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
