J. S. Atchley was a pioneer settler of Stillwell, Oklahoma.
He died at Broken Arrow, Oklahoma after a long illness.
Rev. Stilmon Whitley of Summers, Arkansas officiated
at the service.
Perry was born in Harrison, Arkansas, and he married Molly A. Walker August 31, 1901 at Bowley, Arkansas. He became a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church in
Arkansas, the year, 1884.
Perry was editor of the Stillwell newspaper for 30
years, from 1915 to 1945, when he retired because of ill health.
He was also a charter member of the Masonic lodge at Parthenon, Arkansas and was a lifetime member.
He was survived by his wife, Molley of the home; four sons, Clarence J., of Stillwell, Leslie O., of Sacramento, Calif., Robert C., of Amarillo, Texas, and Reid K., of Rosewell, N. M., four daughters, Mrs. Frieda E. Lee of Los Angeles, Mrs. Linnie Rider of Canada, Mrs. Daisy Hewin of Pontalac, Miss., and Mrs. Rhoda Barker, Burbank, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Ida Maples of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
