The death angel visited the community and chose as its victim John Adams. He was born May 15, 1871 in Douglas County, Mo. and passed away at his home at Longrun, Mo. April 5, 1947, being 76 yrs., 10 months and 21 days old at his death.
He was united in marriage to Eliza Welch, March 26, 1893. To this union nine children were born, four of whom preceded him in death, Lizzie, Charley, Clifford and Harvey, Surviving to mourn their loss, his wife and five children, Ed Adams, of Longrun, Mo.: J. L. Adams of Nelson, Mo.; Rosa Pleake of Yakoma, Wash.; Stella Creekmore of Mtn. Vernon, Mo.; and Callie Hampton of Isabella, 24 grand children; 20 great grand children; one brother of Hasty, Ark.; He professed a hope of Christ about 15 years ago and joined the General Baptist church at Igo, where he remained until his death.
Funeral services were conducted at the Welch cemetery. Some beautiful hymns were sung and an impressive talk was made by Rev. Sam Stone. The body was laid to rest in the Welch cemetery to await the resurrection morning.
He has only gone on to glory and let us follow our Sarlor's teachings and prepare to meet him in heaven where there will be no suffering, sorrow and pain. His home is one of sunshine and gladness, He is now at rest.
